Yara has launched a new podcast – titled “Grow the Future “ – to provide growers with regular crop nutrition tips, advice, and industry updates. The series released their first episode on 12th June, which discussed effective nitrogen use. New episodes are released every two weeks, each focusing on a specific topic alongside an expert interviewee.
“We created the podcast in the wake of Covid-19,” says Eva Ross, Marketing and PR Manager at Yara. “We had to turn the negative into a positive. With a number of events and shows cancelled, we needed an alternative way to reach farmers and agronomists”.
Yara have invested significant resources into digital communication in recent years, including a series of webinars that still regularly occur. Since launching in June 2019, 13 live events have been broadcast by the Yara team over the last year, and remain accessible to all via the website. Following the popularity of these webinars, the new podcast will serve as an additional resource for growers seeking the latest messages on crop nutrition.
The podcast is presented by Ken Rundle, former Rural Affairs Correspondent and presenter for BBC Scotland, now freelance agricultural journalist and broadcaster. His in-depth knowledge of the issues and challenges facing the agriculture sector make him the perfect host, alongside a rotating guest spot featuring various Yara experts.
Each episode of the new podcast is bite-size, at approximately ten to fifteen minutes each. “Our hope is that each episode gives a short glimpse into one specific area of agronomy,” adds Eva. “Though they’re short, they’re not light on content. We get through a lot in every episode.”
“The podcast is a platform for getting the latest agronomic advice and information out there. Our goal is to be entertaining and interesting, of course, but to facilitate that transfer of knowledge for farmers and crop advisers. Listening to “Grow the Future” can ultimately help listeners improve their farm’s profitability and environmental sustainability.”
