SoilWorx is taking a hands-on, farmer-led approach to improving soil health and crop nutrition, working closely with growers, agronomists and distributors to develop practical solutions that perform in the field, not just on paper.
The organic fertiliser specialist processes poultry manure into stable, traceable organic fertilisers, helping turn a waste problem into a reliable nutrient source for farms across the UK and Ireland. For growers, this means access to consistent organic nutrition that supports soil health, fits existing systems and contributes to long-term sustainability goals.
Rather than working in isolation, SoilWorx has built a wide network of partners – from agronomy groups and distributors to research organisations including Rothamsted – to make sure products are independently tested and genuinely useful at farm level. Large-scale split-field trials across a range of soil types, climates and cropping systems have already led to two new product launches this year, shaped directly by farmer feedback.
Dr Paul O’Hora, Sales Director at SoilWorx, says farming’s biggest challenges can’t be solved by individual businesses working alone. “Farmers are being asked to meet tighter environmental targets while maintaining yields and margins,” he explains. “If everyone is tackling these challenges differently, it becomes hard to measure what actually works.”
By working with whole growing groups and supply chains, SoilWorx aims to help farmers implement consistent, proven approaches that can be measured and rewarded. “When a system is agreed and rolled out together, everyone understands what’s expected, what results to aim for, and how success will be recognised,” says Paul.
A key part of this model is nutrient cycling. In areas where poultry manure is concentrated, SoilWorx helps move nutrients away from sensitive catchments and redirect them to arable and grassland farms that need them. This not only supports compliance for poultry producers, but also delivers an affordable, sustainable nutrient source to crop growers.
Farmers also benefit from access to a broader pool of expertise. Through partnerships with distributors such as Drummonds, Aurivo, Quinns of Baltinglass, Fruit Hill Farm and Agrii, SoilWorx ensures growers receive independent, joined-up advice that looks at the whole farming system, not just one product.
SoilWorx stays close to the farm gate, adapting products based on real-world experience. “We work with farmers, not at arm’s length from them,” says Paul. “Their feedback drives what we do next.”
