Combine updates target cleaning performance and durability

Fendt is introducing a series of updates to its IDEAL combine range for the 2027 model year, aimed at increasing cleaning and separation capacity while reducing adjustment time and component wear. 

The changes build on the CyclonePlus cleaning system introduced for MY26. According to Fendt’s Ed Dennett, the system has performed well during the 2026 harvest, with a redesigned pre-sieve providing 1.0m² of concave area, sieves widened by 8% and a revised airflow concept. 

Together, these changes increase cleaning capacity by around 25%, while a reduction in the number of balance-cleaning configurations from five to one is intended to simplify crop changes. Switching between grain and maize requires only a sieve change. 

Customers using the revised cleaning system have also reported improved grain quality and reduced losses across a range of operating settings. An optional slope-performance kit improves crop distribution across the upper sieve when harvesting on side slopes. 

For MY27, Fendt has also increased separation capacity on the IDEAL 8 and IDEAL 9. Blanking plates have been removed from the Helix processor and replaced with finger separation grates, increasing total separation area by 27% on the IDEAL 8 and 12% on the IDEAL 9. All four IDEAL models now use the same rotor configuration. 

Durability improvements are also focused on high-wear areas. A new Hi-Wear package across the range uses Hardox wear plates in the feed area, replacing stainless steel components, while the front wear plate and bolt guard are also manufactured from Hardox. 

An expanded Hi-Wear option includes a stainless-steel base plate for the crop elevator and hard-chromed augers throughout the machine. Fendt recommends this specification for operators harvesting large areas of maize and soya beans. 

The front rotor scraper wear-plate mounting system has also been redesigned, using self-locking nylon nuts and 10.9-strength bolts to provide a more secure fixing under high torque loads without requiring additional welding. 

A new straw and chaff spreader kit uses two hydraulically driven centrifugal discs with adjustable spreading width. It can replace the straw chopper and spreader and is intended to reduce unnecessary wear when harvesting maize. 

Finally, the standard radiator for the MotionShift transmission has been redesigned to improve oil cooling during extended road travel and operation on steep gradients. 

The MY27 changes are intended to improve consistency, reduce machine adjustment and extend component service life while maintaining combine performance across UK and Irish harvesting conditions.
