Yara is demonstrating a range of precision tools and services to help simplify fertilizer decisions on farm and in field at LAMMA.
The Yara N-Sensor forms part of Yara’s Precision Farming offering alongside Yara N-Plan and Yara N-Tester. It’s Yara’s solution to variable rate nitrogen applications by adjusting rates according to crop growth whilst travelling across a field.
The N-Sensor is designed to deliver precise levels of input according to the crop’s requirements helping to both reduce environmental effects whilst maximising potential profit.
Yara’s ImageIT app is a quick, user-friendly app designed to measure nitrogen uptake in an oilseed rape crop to generate nitrogen recommendation.
Assessing nitrogen uptake is key in oilseed rape nutrition management as it can vary from 20 to 150 kg/N. The ImageIT app provides nitrogen recommendations by measuring nitrogen uptake based on crop photographs taken on a smartphone. It analyses crop photographs for leaf cover and green leaf area by classifying and counting pixels in the photographs as well as filtering noisy areas.
This allows estimates of crop biomass and nitrogen content to be determined which are used to identify nitrogen requirements which provides a field specific recommendation.
The latest version can be downloaded on Apple, Android and Windows devices. Completely free of charge it has been downloaded by over 3000 people in the UK.
