Tractor targets efficiency with smarter power management

CLAAS has introduced its new AXION 8 CMATIC tractor range, bringing improved power efficiency, tyre management technologyand automated drivetrain control to the 240-290hp sector.

Replacing the AXION 800 series, the new six-cylinder tractors are designed for intensive cultivation, drilling, haulage and mixed farming applications where traction, fuel efficiency and soil protection are increasingly important.

At the heart of the new range is the 6.7-litre FPT NEF engine, producing up to 313hp with DYNAMIC POWER and maximum torque of 1,282Nm. The engine is combined with CLAAS’ new CEMOS AUTO POWERTRAIN system, which automatically adapts engine performance to changing field conditions.

The system uses DYNAMIC POWER, AUTO DROOP and the Agritechnica award-winning AUTO LOAD ANTICIPATION function to predict load changes and adjust engine speed and transmission settings before demanding operations begin. CLAAS says this improves efficiency while maintaining consistent performance during tasks such as cultivation and drilling.

Soil protection has also been addressed through expanded tyre options and pressure management technology. The AXION 8 CMATIC can be equipped with CLAAS CTIC or CTIC 2800 tyre pressure control systems, allowing operators to optimise tyre pressures for field work and road transport.

The tractor’s long 2.98m wheelbase provides stability and traction while maintaining manoeuvrability, with rear lift capacity reaching 10,200kg on the larger models. Hydraulic performance is available with load-sensing systems delivering up to 205 litres/min.

For transport operations, CLAAS has introduced the option of NOKIAN Soil King VF tyres, including rear tyres up to 710/70 R42, designed to improve efficiency during road work while maintaining flotation characteristics in the field.

The new CEMOS DIALOG assistance system also supports operators by recommending optimum ballast and tyre pressure settings based on soil conditions, implement requirements and operating parameters.

With reduced input costs, improved machine utilisation and greater automation, CLAAS says the AXION 8 CMATIC is aimed at helping farmers achieve higher output while reducing unnecessary fuel use, soil compaction and operating costs.

The tractors also support future digital farming systems through CLAAS connect, enabling machine data management, field documentation and precision application workflows.
