Highly-experienced agricultural industry professional Rob Dunk has a new role as Sales Manager, UK and Ireland, for agricultural machinery manufacturer Claydon, a pioneer of direct strip till crop establishment technology.
Rob has extensive experience in sales management and distribution development, together with a proven track record in the sale of capital equipment within the UK and Ireland. A key part of his remit will be to expand the company’s distribution network to ensure that, at a challenging time for the agricultural sector, more farming businesses benefit from the significant advantages which the Claydon System provides over traditional methods of crop establishment.
“With increasing global competition and the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, farmers are under pressure to reduce production costs and looking for ways to do that, so this is an ideal time to raise awareness of the cost, timeliness, agronomic and environmental benefits of this approach,” Rob states. “Claydon has a very loyal customer base and its products are highly regarded for their quality, performance, reliability and low ownership costs, so I will be working closely with our dealers to ensure that potential customers are fully aware of the advantages.
“The changes within the farming sector present an excellent opportunity, so we are looking to develop the potential of the Claydon range by increasing sales through existing dealers and making additional appointments in areas where we are not currently represented. This will benefit owners of Claydon products by providing more local points of contact and reassure potential customers of excellent service support.
Born in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, Rob was always interested in farming and after completing an OND and HND in agricultural engineering at Rycotewood College in Thame, Oxfordshire he became a Technical Instructor for the Massey Ferguson Training School at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire in 1993. Two years later, Rob was appointed Senior Instructor by Agco Ltd, then in 1997 became a Sales Engineer. Promoted to Area Sales Manager for Massey Ferguson in the West of England, Rob spent five years in the role before being appointed Business Manager in 2004, then became National Sales Manager, Massey Ferguson the following year. After ten years, he moved to construction equipment manufacturer Terex GB, but missed the involvement with agriculture and in 2016 joined Zetor UK as National Sales Manager.
Rob joined Claydon at the beginning of November 2018. Claydon is a progressive family-owned business and its Commercial Team, headed by Commercial Director Spencer Claydon, now sells products which are designed and manufactured at its UK factory to farmers in over 30 countries across four continents.
Spencer Claydon states: “We are delighted that Rob has joined us, as his enormous experience and expertise within the UK and Ireland will be invaluable in developing our domestic market.”
