- Following on from the successful launch into the UK and Irish market at this year’s LAMMA show, soil and agrosystem company Gaϊago is encouraged by the trial interest and grower commitment to its sustainable products
Gaϊago’s portfolio harnesses the very latest innovation for revitalising soils, any farmer’s biggest asset. The solutions comprise of unique formulations of natural elements, protecting yields and empowering growers to reduce reliance on more traditional synthetic plant protection products. Products are registered as biostimulants under the new European regulation and are now available in the UK through distributor CropCo.
It is widely acknowledged that farming community globally needs to embrace and engage in a new way of thinking around soils. Findings by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have shown that a third, of the planet’s agricultural soils are degraded, with fertile soil being lost at a rate of 24bn tonnes per year.
These statistics are evidence that change needs to happen not only for the growers’ potential yield outcomes but as a wider sustainable and environmental requirement. Soils should be treated as one of the biggest assets on farm to avoid the continuing loss of fertility and current negative impacts on nature.
Gaϊago is making the change within soils and their whole team is committed to educating and offering solutions to growers for the production of healthy, fertile, and sustainable products. “Mankind thrives when soils thrive” is Gaϊago’s mantra and it’s proven from clear independent data and trials that Gaϊago is also results driven.
As one of Gaϊago’s key products FREE N100® probiotic fixes atmospheric nitrogen. Providing a regulated nitrogen nutrition supply, throughout the plant cycle, it is also a third source of nitrogen, which is not included in the spreading plan. In addition, it has the added benefit that it can be used in protected and vulnerable zones.
Adding further detail on the product, Gaϊago’s Country Manager, Mark Shaw said “with growers facing ever increasing prices of nitrogen and the vulnerability of supply, this added nutrition supply is key. In addition, feedback has shown that the product is an easy to use solution, offering high-performance and an environmentally friendly alternative in the nitrogen fertilisation strategy, also offering increasing yield and overall quality of production.
“Suitable for all soil and crop types, FREE N100® is also approved for use in organic farming under EU regulation, providing a simple and reliable solution for farmers. Ultimately, we’re here to help growers revitalise their biggest asset on farm – the soil! Through our innovations, we can help growers to become more sustainable, help protect yields and reduce reliance on more traditional plant protection products” continued Mark.
Alongside Gaϊago’s leading probiotic for soil, its approved prebiotic biostimulant Nutrigeo® offers growers improved soil structure in less than 6 months, enhances fertility and crop growth, and accelerates the humification process – the source of carbon storage in soils.
Suitable for all soil types and crops Nutrigeo® has seen successful results all over Europe, from Orchards in France to colder climates in the UK covering broad acre arable and root crops.
Field observation and recognised independent trials with public and private partners have shown better water circulation and soil aeration – Christina Augarde, winegrower from Château Peyrelongue vineyard in the Bordeaux Region said “I rediscovered my soil. I had never seen the transformation of organic matter in the soil before. You can observe it very well.”
This increase in additional organic matter and improved overall soil structure is a “win win” for all growers and supports any agroecological transition process on farm.
