- Cutting edge precision agriculture technology will showcase exciting new developments in farming at a series of demonstration days in Yorkshire that are free for all farmers to attend
Organised by a new Precision Agriculture Special Interest Group (SIG), which is led by Yorkshire farmer Davina Fillingham, the on-farm demonstrations days are being held in collaboration with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, SoilEssentials and their AGXEED robot and SKAi Sprayer, and Manterra’s XAG Drones.
A new breed of field-ready machinery and technology will put to work and explained on Tuesday 19th November 2024 at Crockey Hill, York kindly hosted by farmer Roger hobson of Hobson Farming, on Wednesday 20th November 2024 kindly hosted by Bishop Burton College in Bishop Burton, East Yorkshire, and on Thursday 21st November 2024 kindly hosted by Waudby Farms at Flawith, near Easingwold.
Each event offers separate morning and afternoon sessions with complimentary refreshments available, and all are BASIS and NRoSo registered.
Davina Fillingham, convenor of the Agri-Sense group and a member of the Farmer Scientist Network at the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, said: “I’m really excited to introduce this series of farm demo days to showcase some of the latest technology available to farmers and land managers in the form of robots, and artificial intelligence for sprayers and drones.
“The technology is field-ready and working on farms across the UK already. The demo days provide opportunities for people to see the technology in action and see how it could be adopted or incorporated into their existing agricultural systems. At each of the days, there will be specialists on site to talk through how the machinery works and to discuss potential applications for individual businesses.”
As a Nuffield Farming Scholar whose study focussed on driving adoption in Precision Agriculture, it is a topic that Davina is passionate about.
Her new Precision Agriculture Specialist Interest Group has been set up to inform and encourage the adoption of the latest technology at a farm and land level, and it is supported by a steering group of industry specialists and innovators.
The upcoming farm demonstrations days are fantastic opportunities for farm businesses and those working in allied industries to gain a better understand of cutting edge new technologies and how they can be implemented.
The North Yorkshire events are kindly funded by The UK Shared Prosperity Fund through the Grow Yorkshire initiative and the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. The East Yorkshire event is kindly funded by the Farmer Scientist Network.
