New AI weed detection and imaging

Cambridgeshire-based UK precision technology specialist LH Agro has announced that it is the new exclusive retrofit and aftermarket importer of Carbon Bee in the UK.

Carbon Bee brings cutting-edge agricultural imaging and weed detection to agriculture, with camera-based imaging and AI, in a compact yet powerful system.

The SmartStriker X™ recognises over 20 crops species and various weed types. Combined with AI learning to adapt to lighting, crop stages and weather, the system acts in real time, adjusting each nozzle for precise application in spot spraying and dual dose spraying modes.

With accurate Green-on-Green™ and Green-on-Brown™ detection modes, users can apply chemicals only where weeds are detected to optimise and reduce chemical use.

The system, which consists of the Sensor X, Controller X and ISOBUS VT application, is designed for most types and sizes of sprayers, and is installed directly on the boom.

In April, Richard and some of the wider LH Agro team visited the Carbon Bee research and development facility in France for product training and to finalise the agreement.

LH Agro takes over the UK distribution from Jack Harris at Fieldcraft Technologies with the aim of offering wider support and sales across their established UK network. Fieldcraft Technologies had been UK distributor since 2024.

“We are very proud to announce this new distribution partnership,” says Richard Reed, managing director of LH Agro.

“We have been working with Carbon Bee for some time, building the Smart Striker X™ spot spraying demo unit alongside Fieldcraft Technologies in 2025, which uses Topcon XD+ hardware with RTK and a Capstan Ag Pinpoint 3 PWM spray system,” Richard explains.

“Carbon Bee’s technology is next level, and is fast becoming a standard for new spraying machinery throughout the industry. By taking over from Fieldcraft Technologies as the UK’s retrofit and aftersales distributor, we are enabling this tech to be accessed by growers and contractors with a wider range of machinery and budgets.”

“We are very pleased to be working with LH Agro to distribute the full range of Carbon Bee products and systems to the UK retrofit market,” says Şeref Pinar, sales and marketing director at Carbon Bee.

“We are confident that their knowledgeable team of engineers and fitters will serve customers effectively, installing and looking after our technology in a variety of crops,” he adds.

In recent years, LH Agro has evolved, supplying a wider range of Topcon products and services, including ISOBUS seed drill and dynamic spreader control, Norac sprayer boom height control, TAP Digital Farm Management, on-board weighing, TAP Feed and Digi-Star feed indicators. In 2023, LH Agro became a Topcon TopNET live services reseller.

Now, becoming the UK Carbon Bee distributor, the company extends its offering with AI precision technology to complement the broad Topcon product line.
