All fields are likely to have some form of field drainage.
Ensure you have a final drainage plan and not a proposal. A final plan may include the words ‘ completion’ or ‘as built’ and should always be signed.
In the absence of a final drainage plan:
- Local drainage contractors may hold copies of final record plans
- Produce a sketch map
- Locate any visible outfalls
- Look for field surface signs
- If outfall cannot be found it may be necessary to dig trenches across most likely locations
To find out more have a look at the ADDB Field Drainage Guide which looks at the principles, installation and maintenance issues.
